New Layout using my new LawnFawn stamp set.

I have been having fun doing a bunch of scrapbooking in the last few days. Cleaning up a pile of layouts that we started but never finished. It feels great to accomplish something.

I was all excited a while back when a bunch of girls went together to order stamps from the Lawnfawn site. They also have a fun blog that shares great ideas. I ordered three different stamps sets and haven't had a chance to use them yet.
So in this pile of old layouts were the pictures of the damage that I had done to the car when I hit the deer back in January 2007. The paper and stuff that I had set out with the pictures were doing nothing for me so I pulled out some scrapbooking magazines and started filling though them. I was checking out the new Scrapbooks Etc. mag October 2011, when I came across a layout (page 98) by the owner of Lawnfawn where she uses the Polaroid stamp.
It made me thing me think about the car photos and I put two and two together. The Polaroid stamp reminds me of taking pictures of the damage for the insurance company and have them thrown all over the table and looking at them. So I created a two page layout since I had photos from the night it happened and the next morning.

I am really happy with the way it turned out.

EQUALS = One scary night for me.

In the middle of January 2007 I had to head to Sault Ste. Marie for the funeral of a dear family friend. I was heading back to North Bay making great time, when a deer decided it wanted to welcome me back to town. I slammed on the brakes as the deer hit the left side of the car, I don’t think I screamed but I do remember saying “Oh god” a number of times. The car screeched to a stop and the deer bolted into the woods. After my heart rate dropped a bit, I decided to check the damage on the front of the car, so I grabbed the flashlight out of the glove compartment and grabbed the door handle. I pulled, but unfortunately the door wouldn’t open… You see the deer had struck the vehicle just in front of the driver side door and did enough damage that the door was stuck shut. So, I scampered over the gear shift and went out the passenger side door. I checked out the front of the car and went “Oh god”…. What do I do? The damage looked cosmetic, and beside the door not being able to open, everything seemed fine. So I called my husband Bill at work to let him know what happened and headed into North Bay. I had been fine until I talked with my husband, and proceeded to cry the rest of the way into town… It was a long 15 minute drive. Little did I know that after I called my husband he raced out into the parking lot of where he worked (it was on the outskirts of town) without grabbing a jacket and by the time I got there he was a little blue. We headed over to the cop shop to report the accident, but found out we had to head to the OPP station as it happened on the highway… So back across town we went. All in all, the damage wasn’t that bad and I was OK. My husband also showed that he knew me really well when he said “Hey, you should grab some of that deer hair, stick it in an acid-free bag and put it on a scrapbooking page”. Well, THAT didn’t happen, but it’s the thought that counts.

Happy 34th Birthday Bill!

Me with my new haircut at Dave and Shannon's. We went over to visit and celebrate Bill's birthday. We ordered Pizza and had cake and cookies.
Shannon and Dave got Bill some fancy beers so they left him use the really BIG Beer glass that we got them for Christmas.

Happy 91st Birthday Mary

Here is a card I made for Mary for her 91st birthday. I used Close to My Heart pattern papers and cardstock. The line of Close to my Heart paper is Blue Ribbon. Cardstock colours are Cranberry, Honey, & Outdoor Denim. I got the idea from SplitCoastStampers it is a new tutorial that came out a couple of weeks ago. I really liked the idea but couldn't think of a reason to do it or what colours to even start with. Mom reminded me of Mary's birthday that was on Feb 27th so this gave me a reason to try it out. Mary love butterflies so it was a perfect set of papers to use for her card.

Here is a more close up of the front of the card. Some of the quilt pieces I used my embossing folder on to give it a more 3d look. I think the card turned out really well.

Heard from my mom the other day that Mary really loved her card. I know she would as she is one person I know that LOVES getting homemade cards.
